Irish Cannot Overcome Seminoles
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – John Butler led four Seminole players in double figures with 16 points as Florida State knocked off Notre Dame 74-70 Wednesday night.
Notre Dame (21-9, 13-5), despite leading by five points at the half, could not hit a 3-point shot and went 0-10 in the second half and only shot 26% from behind the arc.
Freshman Blake Wesley led the Irish with a game high 21 points, while Paul Atkinson Jr picked up a double-double with 17 points and 1o rebounds, and Prentiss Hubb added 10 points.
Florida State (16-13, 9-10) dominated in the paint and scored 48 points to Notre Dame’s 26 points.
Notre Dame remains winless in Tallahassee and must win on Saturday to secure the number two seed in next week’s ACC Tournament in Brooklyn.
The Irish will close out the regular season at home on Saturday against Pitt. The tip at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Notre Dame Clinches Double-Bye
Irish tie record for most ACC wins in a season with 14
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame’s Dane Goodwin scored seven of his game high 17 points before the first media timeout and the Irish never trailed in its 90-56 win over Georgia Tech at Purcell Pavilion on Saturday.
With the win, Notre Dame secures a top-four finish in the ACC and will receive a double-bye in the upcoming ACC Tournament that will be held in Brooklyn, NY from March 8-12.
“That’s huge. It’s been a goal of ours to get a top four finish,” said Goodwin. “We’ve got a great vibe and are looking forward to March.”
With the win Notre Dame (21-8, 14-4) tied a school record for most ACC wins in a season (14) and is a game behind league leading Duke.
“We won’t play until Thursday,” said coach Mike Brey. “I love that our scout team got in and they can play, too.”
Notre Dame with a short bench and using a seven-player rotation, was able to get 11 players into the action against the Yellow Jackets.
The Irish had a balanced scoring attack with Blake Wesley (15 points), Prentiss Hubb (13 points) and Paul Atkinson, Jr. (10 points) joining Goodwin in double-figure scoring.
Cormac Ryan, who got the start in place of Nate Laszewski, pulled down a career high 10 rebounds in the win for the Irish.
Notre Dame improves to 13-1 at Purcell Pavilion.
The Irish :18 seconds into the game scored its first points and never looked back leading 39:15 in the game.
Georgia Tech (11-18, 4-14) placed three players in double-figures and was led by Jordan Usher with 16 points.
Next up for the Fighting Irish will be the Florida State Seminoles as Notre Dame travels to Tallahassee on Wednesday for their final road game of the regular season. A place Notre Dame has never won a game. The tip is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.

Atkinson, Jr. Leads the Irish as Notre Dame Soars Past Syracuse, 79-69
Notre Dame stays in the hunt for an ACC regular season title
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Paul Atkinson, Jr. scored 20 points and pulled down a career high 17 rebounds to lead Notre Dame to a 79-69 win over Syracuse in ACC play on Monday night.
Notre Dame (20-8, 13-4) had four players score in double-figures and overcame a four-point deficit at the half to pick up the win. Nate Laszewski, despite feeling ill before the game, scored 17 points. Prentiss Hubb had a season high 10 assists in the win.
“Our defense played well the last 10 minutes,” said Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. “We were really poised against the (Syracuse) zone on offense and the crowd was outstanding.”
Jimmy Boeheim scored a season high 27 points for Syracuse (15-13, 9-8), while his brother, Buddy, added 20 points for the Orange.
Notre Dame, who picked up its 20 with of the season and its twelfth game at Purcell Pavilion this season, is one game behind Duke in the ACC standings. The Blue Devils stayed ahead of the Irish by defeating Virginia on Wednesday night.
Only three games remain for the Irish in the regular season with two games being at home.
Notre Dame will host Georgia Tech at Purcell Pavilion this Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. EST.

Irish Win Fifth ACC Road Game
Laszewski injured in first half
RALEIGH, N.C. – Winning in college basketball is h ard. Winning on the road in ACC conference play is even harder but the Irish, behind a strong zone defense, defeated NC State on Saturday 60-57 to sweep the series against the Wolfpack.
Notre Dame (16-7, 9-3) placed five players in double-figure scoring and were led by Paul Atkinson, Jr. who picked up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Irish lost Nate Laszewski in the first half with an injury, which allowed Trey Wertz to come off the bench and score 12 points. Dane Goodwin also had a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 1o rebounds.
The Irish jumped out to a quick 11 points to start the game and led by as many as 17 points in the first half. NC State did not score a basket until the 13:13 mark of the opening half, but put together a run to trail by only five points going into the intermission,
Notre Dame’s zone defense was a major factor in the win, as the Wolfpack managed only 30% from the field on 20-67 shooting, but managed to take a lead a 40-37 in the second half.
NC State (10-14, 3-10) was led in scoring by Terquavion Smith with 19 points.
The Fighting Irish will take on the Louisville Cardinals next Wednesday night at Purcell Pavilion in ACC conference play. The tip at 7 p.m. EST.

Duke Snaps Irish Home Win Streak
First sellout at Purcell Pavilion since 2019 season
SOUTH BEND – A “Big Monday” TV game, coupled with the first sellout crowd since 2019, turned out to be a big disappointment for Irish fans as #9 Duke defeated the Notre Dame 57-43.
With the win, the Blue Devils snapped Notre Dame’s home game win streak at 10 games and took over sole possession of second place in the ACC behind league leading Miami.
There were signs of optimism early in the game when Notre Dame took a 2-0 lead to start the game, but the Blue Devils tied the score at 2-2 and never looked back. Duke led by as many as 22 points in the second half.
Duke (18-3, 9-2) was led in scoring by Paolo Banchero with 21 points.
Notre Dame (14-7, 7-3) had its lowest point output since the 2012 season.
Paul Atkinson, Jr. led the Irish in scoring with 14 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
The Irish only shot 28% from the field (17-61) and 17% from three-point range (3-18).
The Blue Devils outrebounded the Irish 51-36
The Fighting Irish travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. E.T.
